Cross-Country Stadium, where the passionate local fans flocked in their thousands to cheer on the young athletes. Most were expecting to celebrate a series of Norwegian victories, but it was the Republic of Korea’s Magnus Kim who enjoyed the most success, winning gold in the men’s 10km freestyle and the new cross-country cross event, as well as silver in the classic sprint.Local fans had plenty to celebrate at the biathlon course, however, where Norway’s Marthe Kråkstad Johansen and Sivert Guttorm Bakken were similarly dominant. Bakken won gold in the men’s 10km pursuit and silver in the 7.5km sprint before teaming up with Johansen, Fredrik Qvist Bucher-Johannessen and Marit Øygard to win the mixed relay. Johansen, meanwhile, finished the Games with four medals, including gold in the mixed relay and silver medals in the 6km sprint, 7.5km pursuit and single mixed relay – one of 12 new medal events at Lillehammer 2016 – which featured one male and one female from each participating NOC skiing the course twice and shooting four times.“I’m very happy,” said Johansen. “This is incredibly cool to be part of.”I experienced so much and got to know so many great people!
