AROUND THE GLOBEThousands of researchers and students worldwide choose Olympic-related topics as case studies for their research projects, courses, conferences or publications. This is what we call ÒOlympic studiesÓ.Among the many academic actors active in Olympic studies the university-based Olympic Studies Centres (OSCs) have an important role. These centres ensure close daily contact between professors and students in their universities and countries and contribute significantly to the ongoing analysis and promotion of Olympism within society. The IOC Olympic Studies Centre is in contact with 40 university-based OSCs across all five continents. Each of them has its own specificity in terms of expertise and type of activities. Some of them were born as a legacy of an edition of the Games, others under the initiative of their NOC and all of them thanks to the commitment of professors who are passionate about Olympism.DID YOU KNOW?EACH ISSUE, THE OLYMPIC STUDIES CENTRE TRAWLS THE ARCHIVES FOR FUN FACTS, TRIVIA AND INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES FROM THE HISTORY OF THE OLYMPIC GAMESShort track speed skating is not an exact science, according to CanadaÕs Olivier Jean.
