With 70 per cent of existing venues ready for the Games, Rome’s objective is maximising their use and including venues according to their fit for the city’s long-term development plans. City infrastructure projects will enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors and lead to a more accessible city, by upgrading, for example, Rome’s transportation system. Significant benefits from the Games are related to education and social projects that have been carried out from the beginning of the candidature process. Rome also aims at developing new open spaces to enjoy the city’s rich culture and enhance sustainability. The 2024 Games are a great opportunity to create a truly celebratory atmosphere in the city and in the country and to give young people, in particular, strong foundations on which to build their lives.
