SNOWBOARD BIG AIRReplacing snowboard parallel slalom on the Olympic programme for 2018 is Big Air, with men’s and women’s competitions promising to thrill spectators with complex tricks and breathtaking jumps. A successful test event was staged in November 2016 at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre, and Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris – who won the men’s event, and describes Big Air as “one intense jump” – believes it will be a big hit in a year’s time. “There’s going to be a lot of flipping and spinning going on,” he adds. “There’s swagger, there’s passion – I think [fans] will love it.”OLYMPIC REVIEW 45ONE YEAR TO GO
