From 29 September to 12 October, the International Judo Federation (IJF) held an educational tour in India, which followed successful events in China, Canada, Oceania and Australia. The tour, organised jointly by the IJF and the Judo Federation of India, opened at the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra, in the presence of 100 judokas. Over the following two weeks, a delegation of Indian officials led by federation president Mukesh Kumar and IJF representatives travelled throughout northern India to promote the educational values of judo. The IJF delegation included Nicolas Messner, IJF Media and Communication Director and Judo for Peace Director, as well as Olympic and world championship medallist Mikl—s Ungv‡ri of Hungary.After Agra, the tour moved on to Haridwar, Dehradun, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Sonipat, Rohtak and Narnaul, before the final stage in New Delhi.On 26 September, the FŽdŽration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) awarded its inaugural Diversity Award to the Indian non-governmental organisation, Slum Soccer. The award was created by FIFA to recognise outstanding organisations, group initiatives and football personalities that are standing up for diversity and inspiring unity, solidarity and equality among all people. Slum Soccer uses football to connect individuals, teach life skills and work towards improving the living conditions of women and marginalised populations in Indian society.FIFA has also announced that it has joined the United Nations Climate Change SecretariatÕs Climate Neutral Now initiative, becoming the first international sports organisation to do so. FIFA has pledged to strive towards becoming greenhouse gas emission-neutral by the mid-21st century, committing to measuring, reducing and offsetting all of its greenhouse gas emissions at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.The International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) has continued to extend the reach of its Laser-Run concept by supporting an activity day for over 400 people in Dili, Timor-Leste. The session formed part of a ÒSport for Life Youth Leadership CampÓ arranged by SportImpact, a social enterprise that works on human development projects. The participants, mostly boys and girls aged 10-15, had the opportunity to practise laser shooting for the first time using UIPM equipment and to learn about the benefits of this safe and ecological form of shooting. Host city applications for the 2019 Wrestling World Championships are currently being reviewed, with a selection expected by the end of the year.FIG elects new presidentMorinari Watanabe has been named as the next President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) after his election victory at the FIG Congress in Tokyo (Japan). Watanabe, currently Secretary General of the Japan Gymnastics Association and an FIG Executive Committee member, will take up his new position on 1 January 2017, succeeding Bruno Grandi, who has led the FIG for 20 years.
