Budapest 2024 thanks the Rio 2016 Organising Committee for the invaluable opportunity to observe the Games of the XXXI Olympiad. The eight-strong Budapest 2024 team and subject matter experts attended IOC Observer Programme tabletops and site visits covering a range of Games activities such as city operations, energy and technology, as well as fields of expertise including brand and sustainability. Security workshops were of particular interest, allowing the team to liaise closely with specialists in Olympic venue security. Budapest 2024 made the most of the rich mine of knowledge available in Rio, with the Observer Programme enabling the team to live and breathe the Games and experience the gritty BUDAPESTThe Olympic Games Rio 2016 Ð the first to be held in South America Ð were amazing and spectacular. We learnt a great deal during the IOC Observer Programme and it was a privilege to listen, learn and gain invaluable insight during a live Games scenario.We witnessed incredible performances by Olympians who are and always will be the heartbeat of the Games. They can look back with honour and pride at their incredible achievements and their outstanding dedication and commitment to sport and the spirit of Olympism.The city and the cariocas captured the hearts and minds of millions of sports fans around the world. The people of Rio de hard work and triumphs that PARIShappen backstage while the action takes place front-of-house.This was the first time Hungary had hosted a National House Ð an exciting innovation for the Hungarian Olympic Committee. The House welcomed over 20,000 guests, including the Hungarian President and Prime Minister, well-known Hungarian Olympians and each of Team HungaryÕs much-celebrated medal winners and national heroes. Rio 2016 provided Budapest 2024 with many admirable examples of robust preparation, real-time responsiveness and a positive mindset. The Games were packed with exceptional athlete performances and moving moments of Olympic spirit and sportsmanship that will live on forever.Janeiro inspired us with their passion, love of life and pride in their stunning city. Their warm hospitality and eternal enthusiasm Ð as rich and colourful as the stunning Rio scenery Ð carried on by thousands of joyful volunteers was truly infectious. It was fantastic to see the celebrations at Club France and the uniting of two cultures to create an amazing fusion of ÒPariocaÓ spirit. It was wonderful to see local children playing sport with French Olympians, bringing the true Olympic spirit to the heart of Rio.Rio really did live up to its reputationÉ Cidade Maravilhosa Ð a marvellous Games in Òthe Marvellous CityÓ.
