SPOTLIGHT ON THE CANDIDATE CITIES 2024ParabŽns, belo Rio! The Los Angeles 2024 Candidature Committee spent three wonderful weeks meeting with the Olympic family and participating in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Observer Programme to learn first-hand how to ensure ideal conditions for elite athletes and all Games clients.Our team learned that the Olympic spirit is alive and well in Brazil, and we were also reminded that the Olympic Games are much more than a celebration of sport; they are a celebration of our united humanity. A great example was the friendly interaction and cooperation with our fellow Candidate Cities 2024 throughout the Games. The Olympic family gave us LOS ANGELESThe Rome 2024 Candidature Committee in Rio was able to attend the IOC Observer Programme, which consisted of 35 workshops for a total of over 130 hours. Delegates were able to meet top executives of the Rio 2016 Organising Committee, local authorities, International Federations and IOC technical staff to share the GamesÕ strategic and organisational issues according to Olympic Agenda 2020 that focused on economic rigour, transparency and sustainability, and enhances the legacy left to the host city and its citizens. Rome 2024 based its activities in Rio on the legacy that will remain for the Brazilian city after the Games; the new light ROMETHE CANDIDATE CITIES FOR THE 2024 OLYMPIC GAMES GAINED INVALUABLE INSIGHT INTO THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS OF DELIVERING THE GAMES AFTER TAKING PART IN THE IOC OBSERVER PROGRAMME AT RIO 2016excellent feedback on LA 2024Õs vision for a New Games for a New Era, which we call ÒFollow the SunÓ. The Olympic Games Rio 2016 showed us how cities can use a stunning landscape like the coastline as a stage for sports, how new public transit can be used successfully to bring fans quickly to events, how entertainment can be incorporated in venues to excite and attract new fans, and how the cityÕs diversity and tolerance can ensure all visitors feel welcome.We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome we received from the Olympic family and from the people of Rio. Our time in this great city has inspired us to reach even higher in placing CaliforniaÕs technology, creativity and innovation at the service of the Olympic Movement.rail transit (VLT Carioca) and the renovation of the port area are important and inspiring examples. The delegation was also able to learn about the legacy of the Olympic Games London 2012 in a dedicated workshop held at the British House in Rio. Sustainability, organisation, budget, logistics, territory, education, engagement, marketing, legacy, facilities, transportation and tourism, and also security, public involvement, athletesÕ experience and spectators were some of the topics discussed during the sessions attended by the Rome 2024 Candidature Committee.
