I love NADFAS; it enriches lives and makes a real difference. I wouldn’t have missed my time as a Trustee for the world.” ■EVER THOUGHT OF BEING A TRUSTEE? WE NEED YOU!It’s that time of year again when we are looking for new Trustees. If youthink you have the personal or professional skills and experience to join the Board, why not put your name forward? Ideal candidates will have a keen interest in furthering the strategic aims of the organisation. Of course, there are always particular skills we need – experience of further education relevant to the arts and Information Technology being just two examples – but the most important aspect is being a good communicator, able to represent NADFAS and the Board both within the Association (at Area meetings, for example) and to the outside world. The primary purpose of any charity trustee is to ensure good governance, overseeing the work of the charity without getting too involved in the detail. This is a responsible position which needs commitment; there is plenty of expert training available.Convinced? If so, there will be Trustee Discovery Days for prospective Trustees to attend on either January 24 or February 9, 2017 at which all will be explained, and you’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and raise matters of concern before making any fi rm commitment. If you would like to attend one of the Trustee Discovery Days or would like more information, please Graeme East (GEast@nadfas.org.uk) at NADFAS House.
