LEAVING AN ARTISTIC LEGACYThe 25th anniversary of Diss DFAS was a fi tting time to bring art to a new generation – while West Sussex DFAS lent a touch of magic to primary children’s project workDiss DFAS decided to celebrate its 25th anniversary by bringing a beautiful artwork into the daily life of the children of a local school.The stained glass window project at Hartismere High School in Eye, Suffolk cost £2,500, which was entirely funded by Diss DFAS, but there were two stipulations. First, as many students as possible were to take part in the project from all year groups, and second, it was to be on public display for years to come. The Society’s Young Arts Co-ordinator, Jane Fishwick, worked with Teri Lockton, a local glass artist, on the project. Diss DFAS had worked with Teri before on another very successful project at Burston Primary School. The theme chosen was the Diss DFAS funded a £2,500 school art project for over 100 pupilscircular school shield, with a reference to the 25th anniversary of Diss DFAS.Paula Hayward-Nicholls, Head of Art at Hartismere, helped by some of the A-level Fine Art students, came up with a “The students showed real interest in the different techniques and materials, asked thoughtful questions and were at all times well-behaved and courteous.” JANE FISHWICK DISS DFAS YOUNG ARTS CO-ORDINATORYOUNG ARTS12 — THE ART OF GIVING
