National NewsNational Chairman June Robinson receives the BEM; new Travel Affi liates; and your chance to comment on NADFAS ReviewTour NADFAS is updatedWe are delighted to welcome two new Travel Affi liates to Tour NADFAS: Tauck and Brightwater Holidays. Both companies bring a wealth of experience, offering inspiring holidays for our members. “Our deep-rooted relationships within America’s National Parks were built over time, with a dose of perseverance that sets us apart,” says Arthur Tauck Jr from Tauck. “We strive to ensure that our guests enjoy the same experiences we’ve enjoyed – when done right, time spent in these parks is life-changing.” (See pages 48–53.) Brightwater Holidays, whose advertisement appears on page 37, will be featured in the winter issue. It is a specialist in escorted garden tours in the UK and abroad, as well as Scottish island holidays. Meanwhile, we say goodbye to Heritage Travel and Select Odyssey as Tour NADFAS Affi liates, although they will continue to advertise their varied holidays in the Review. We take this opportunity to thank them for their support over the last few years. National Chairman June Robinson has been awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours for services to the community. NADFAS Chief Executive Florian Schweizer said: “We are absolutely delighted that June’s enormous contribution to her local community has been recognised. Her tireless work to help others, support local causes and connect people from different walks of life fully deserves this reward. It is inspiring to see June dedicate so much of her passion and generosity on top of the work she does as National Chairman of NADFAS.” June has long been involved with activities in Leatherhead – she is Chairman of the Leatherhead Community Association, led the design and funding of a wall sculpture to mark the Queen’s Jubilee, is a member of the Mole Valley District’s Heritage Open Days committee, and founded Leatherhead DFAS, among a host of other fundraising activities.June commented: “I’ve lived in Leatherhead for 45 years and am so lucky as I’ve always enjoyed being involved with the wider community. I am honoured and delighted to receive this award, particularly in the Queen’s 90th birthday year.”Above: National Chairman June Robinson was awarded the BEMJune Robinson honoured by the QueenOUR CURRENT LIST OF TRAVEL AFFILIATES:Hebridean Island CruisesBrightwater HolidaysJust YouSwan HellenicTauckTravelsphere Voyages to AntiquityVoyages of DiscoveryWinning art that is good enough to eatWe are excited to announce the winners of the 2016 Young Arts Chairman’s Competition, which this year had the theme ‘Edibles’.
