DID YOU KNOW?EACH ISSUE, THE IOC OLYMPIC STUDIES CENTRE TRAWLS THE ARCHIVES FOR FUN FACTS AND INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES FROM THE HISTORY OF THE OLYMPIC GAMESAROUND THE GLOBEAcademic conferences are a common platform for scholars to share the results of their research. They are also an excellent opportunity for exchanges between representatives of the Olympic Movement and the academic community. Scientific points of view paired with operational experience enrich the analysis of current and future Olympic projects and help to reinforce the dialogue between the Olympic Movement and society. As such, every year, universities and organisations involved in the Olympic Movement organise conferences on specific Olympic-related topics. During Olympic years, the host country welcomes many of these events, and Brazil will host various conferences between July and September. In the context of Olympic Agenda 2020, scholars worldwide will be presenting the results of their social, economic and cultural analysis of different aspects related to the Olympic Movement at these events.OLYMPISM AND CHRIST THE REDEEMERFIND OUT MOREFor further information, resources, book loans or to sign up to our newsletter, contact us at studies.centre@olympic.org or visit olympic.org/studiesBetween 1912 and 1948, artistic competitions including sculpture, painting, music, literature and architecture were part of the Olympic programme.
