DAME ZAHA HADIDArchitect Dame Zaha Hadid, whose designs included the London Aquatics Centre, has died aged 65. The Iraqi-born Hadid was the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize and received widespread praise for her design of the London Aquatics Centre, which was used during the Olympic Games London 2012. Described by then IOC President Jacques Rogge as Òa masterpieceÓ when it first opened, the striking venue Ð which resembles a wave Ð features two 50-metre pools and a diving pool, and was opened for public use in 2014.Australian rower Sarah Tait has passed away at the age of 33 following a long illness. Tait was a three-time Olympian, competing in the womenÕs eight at the Olympic Games Athens 2004 and Olympic Games Beijing 2008, and winning a silver medal with Kate Hornsey in the womenÕs pair at the Olympic Games London 2012. At the World Championships in 2005 she was a member of the gold medal-winning womenÕs eight, and also won silver in the pair. In 2012, Tait became the first mother to row for Australia at the Olympic Games, following the birth of her daughter Leila in 2009. Her son, Luca, was born in 2013.British athlete and sports administrator John Disley has passed away at the age of 87. Disley (left) won a bronze medal in the menÕs 3,000m steeplechase at the Olympic Games Helsinki 1952 and finished sixth in the same event four years later in Melbourne behind compatriot and gold medallist Chris Brasher. The duo would go on to co-found the London Marathon in 1981, which has since become one of the biggest running events in the world. Leontyeva was a member of the Soviet Union team that won gold at the Olympic Games Mexico City 1968, beating defending champions Japan in four sets in the final match. Four years later the two countries met again in the gold medal match, with Leontyeva helping the USSR to successfully defend their Olympic title.ANATOLI ILYINRussian footballer Anatoli Ilyin has died at the age of 84. Ilyin was part of the Soviet Union team that won gold at the Olympic Games Melbourne 1956, where he scored the winning goal in the final against Yugoslavia. Ilyin also played in the Olympic Games Helsinki 1952 and the 1958 FIFA World Cup, scoring in a 2-0 win against Austria in the group stage. In total, he appeared 31 times for his country between 1952 and 1959, scoring 16 goals. KIM SEONG-JIPKim Seong-jip, who won the Republic of KoreaÕs first-ever medal at the Olympic Games, has died aged 97. Kim secured a middleweight bronze medal in weightlifting at the Olympic Games London 1948, becoming the first Korean to win an Olympic medal following the countryÕs independence from Japan. He went on to win bronze once again at the Olympic Games Helsinki 1952, before finishing fifth four years later in Melbourne. Kim also won gold at the 1954 Asian Games in the light-heavyweight class.DAVID STIBBEDutch equestrian administrator David ÒDaddyÓ Stibbe has passed away at the age of 93. Stibbe is best remembered as the creator of the world-famous Indoor Brabant event, while he also served as a member of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) for five years. His son Eddy competed in eventing at four editions of the Olympic Games, and both father and son received the Olympic Order in 2000 for their services to equestrian sport.SANDOR TARICSSandor Tarics, who was a member of HungaryÕs Olympic gold medal-winning water polo team at the Olympic Games Berlin 1936, has passed away at the age of 102.
