In the framework of the 2017 PhD Students Research Grant Programme, the IOC Olympic Studies Centre (OSC) has awarded eight projects. Out of these eight projects, six correspond to the “Open subject” category and two to the “National Olympic Committees’ (NOCs) Policy Priority” category. This second category is organised in collaboration with Olympic Solidarity and the NOCs interested in supporting the research. The chosen students benefit from a grant that allows them to carry out their project and, if relevant, to consult the OSC’s resources in Lausanne (Switzerland). The results of their research must be submitted by the end of 2017. The PhD Programme is one of the two research programmes organised by the OSC since 1999, aiming to support Olympic-related academic research.THE LATEST NEWS, BOOK REVIEWS AND RESEARCH FROM THE IOC OLYMPIC STUDIES CENTRE – YOUR SOURCE OF OLYMPIC KNOWLEDGEOLYMPIC STUDIESSTUDIES CENTREOFF THE SHELFFEMALE OLYMPIANS:A MEDIATED SOCIO-CULTURAL AND POLITICAL-ECONOMIC TIMELINEWomen first took part in the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900: 22 women out of a total of 997 athletes competed in five sports.
