Image: courtesy of Chatsworth.Art Out Loud returns to Chatsworth in September, transforming the Derbyshire estate into one of Britain’s most exciting destinations for art lovers.Now in its second year, the three-day festival of talks features leading artists, curators and writers. Speakers for 2016 include artists Jenny Saville, Maggi Hambling and Edmund de Waal; curators Julia Peyton-Jones and Maria Balshaw; the legendary historian, diarist and curator Sir Roy Strong; designer Emma Bridgewater and garden designer Dan Pearson; and Chatsworth’s own art afi cionado, the Duke of Devonshire.Talks take place at Chatsworth in the Victorian Theatre and in a wonderful tent in the garden, providing ticket holders free access to the 105-acre garden and to Sotheby’s monumental sculpture exhibition, Beyond Limits. New for this year, the festival also features a special exhibition to mark 25 years of the local Peak District Artisans collective, as well as the rare chance to see a performance in Chatsworth’s theatre: A Gift for Eleonora, by arts academics from the University of Derby. Children are also welcome, with ‘Build your own Pavilion’ workshops, held in partnership with The Serpentine Galleries, London, and a session on drawing from Horrible Histories illustrator Martin Brown.• The Chatsworth Festival Ð Art Out Loud runs from September 23Ð25, 2016.
