That business case [provided by the Technology Strategy roadmaps] combined with a proven popular need, will drive progress.”And for business, where a bigger company might use the roadmaps to identify which capabilities it needs to bring into its organisation, a start-up or SME can judge who it needs to work with to build its supply chain. The Technology Strategy places a heavy emphasis on shared expertise, with a cloud-based portal, Sharpcloud (www.tsctechstrategy.co.uk), serving as an information repository for the IM community. This information is available free of charge for companies, academics or policy makers throughout the sector. Furthermore, the portal is collaborative, with users able to exchange information and ideas and contribute their own research and insights. From this summer, the portal will also serve as a “shop window for collaboration and supply chain partners”, explains Dr Oren. This will enable visitors to identify businesses offering the right compatibility sets for their own projects.Dr Oren believes this collaborative model is key to future success. “Formerly, advances took place among individual companies and universities; there was no coordinated response.“Intelligent Mobility is a hybrid of different disciplines, from traditional transport to data integration and customer-behaviour analysis.
