064 INNOVATION TECHNOLOGYHOW METROSMART INTERNATIONAL AIMS TO MAKE THE WORLD A BRIGHTER PLACEIn order to make the world a brighter place, the first step is to make it smarter. Planet earth will survive but will mankind? Will we disappear as previous creatures did during the Ice Age? The sooner we realize that we are attempting to preserve ourselves, not planet Earth, the sooner perhaps we will recognize the need to implement smart technology. Man is basically selfish so we need to appeal to that basic instinct.Metrosmart International (MSI) has for some years been contributing to making the world a brighter place by replacing centuries old industrial era technology with green technology in road infrastructure. We at MSI recognize that everything we and others do is intertwined and has a universal impact. It behooves us all to act responsibly towards our planet in the pursuance of our goals. Therefore, MSI designs and manufactures products with no inbuilt obsolescence. Our products are designed not to deteriorate, corrode or rust but to last for generations to come. We have learnt our lesson from ancient history, from the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians. If they could do it why not us? We can survive by using smart technologies and it is only greed and ignorance which are preventing us from adopting them and sharing them with the world. Metrosmart International is forming alliances with other environmentally responsible companies across the world such as Sapa Pole Products in Europe in the manufacture of aluminum street light poles and solar street infra structure. MSI is also working together with Ju Hoa Lighting specialists in LED lights and other smart technologies in China.MSI resolved to form these alliances to ensure energy is not wasted on unnecessary duplication of manufacture and to discourage the use of fossil fuels.Climate change needs to be approached at different levels and with different means in various parts of the world. Green technology is relative to the various countries’ and communities’ stage of development. In highly developed nations, cutting down emissions by the use of electric powered vehicles or even Hydrogen powered vehicles will assist in creating a cleaner and brighter world. Solar, wind power and biofuels are being increasingly trialed and used in developed and developing nations, but governments need to do more by giving greater subsidies to encourage the use of these sustainable technologies. In today’s troubled, chaotic and tragic world one might think it would take a miracle to make the world a brighter place.Man needs to become more considerate, less selfish and start asking the question: “Do I really need this or do I just want this? “A lesson my three-year-old granddaughter was taught by my son, her father, in 2009. She immediately took it on board so surely adults can do as well.“ MAN NEEDS TO BECOME MORE CONSIDERATE, LESS SELFISH AND START ASKING THE QUESTION: “DO I REALLY NEED THIS OR DO I JUST WANT THIS?”Above: Christine NashCHRISTINE NASH, DIRECTOR, METROSMART INTERNATIONALContact Information:MetroSmart Internationalcnash@metro-smart.com
